STARS Scholars are high performing, at-risk students with financial need who are recommended by their AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) teachers. The award at the end of two successful years of mentoring during junior and senior years of high school will earn a scholarship of 60 credit hours at a Florida college or 30 credit hours at a Florida university. STARS is a public-to-private program funded by the Florida Legislature and matched dollar-for-dollar by private donations through organizations like TeamWork. Students and their parents/guardians sign a contract agreeing to remain drug and crime free. They also agree to being mentored.
Please see the TeamWork Mentoring Program tab for additional information.
