STARS Scholars are high performing, at-risk students with financial need who are recommended by their AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) teachers. The award at the end of two successful years of mentoring during junior and senior years of high school will earn a scholarship of 60 credit hours at a Florida college or 30 credit hours at a Florida university. STARS is a public-to-private program funded by the Florida Legislature and matched dollar-for-dollar by private donations through organizations like TeamWork. Students and their parents/guardians sign a contract agreeing to remain drug and crime free. They also agree to being mentored.

Starting with the class of 2025

In partnership with Palm Beach State College, TeamWork will provide scholarships for students pursuing highly marketable careers to start them on a path toward stable careers that will keep them in Palm Beach County after graduation. Scholarships will be combined with mentoring and access to a range of resources provided by community partners that will keep students on track and focused on their goals. We recognize that funding for education is not enough; in order for students to succeed, they need guidance, mentorship, and support. We are proud to provide a comprehensive service that creates opportunities for students and improves the quality of life for people throughout our community.

Please see the TeamWork Mentoring Program tab for additional information.
