Elementary Scholarship Program Grants 2018-19
TeamWork is an educational foundation committed to supporting and nurturing all striving students attending Title I public elementary schools in Palm Beach County. The Elementary Scholarship and Leadership Club Program (ESP) is one of programs the foundation operates consistent with its mission to improve student achievement by providing engaging and motivational experiences in the primary grades. Currently, 14 schools are engaged in this program which began during the 2011-12 school year.
Briefly, the program provides for eighty-four $1,000 college scholarships annually to striving students whose traits are examples to all of how to be successful in school and in life. A committee of teachers selects two third graders, two fourth graders and two fifth graders each fall to receive scholarships. Student recipient names are kept confidential until an Awards Ceremony is conducted. This very special assembly is conducted between October 1 and November 15 where the six students are announced in various creative ways by teacher teams. Recipient names are kept confidential until the ceremony to maintain the element of surprise.
Two highly capable and dedicated teacher advisors are selected by the principal to oversee and organize the ceremony and to meet with the striving student leaders twice monthly to provide activities geared toward enhancing leadership skills by providing services to the school and the greater community. TeamWork USA maintains consistent support of all clubs by providing a stipend to Club Advisors who are required to maintain consistent communication with the foundation and follow program guidelines as outlined in a program handbook which is attached for your review. Currently, the program is working for students at the following elementary schools: Pine Jog, Galaxy, West Riviera, Rolling Green, Diamond View, Belle Glade, Palmetto, Glade View, Melaleuca, Barton, Seminole Trails, Grove Park, West Riviera and Palm Springs.
We believe the program meets the criteria of the foundation’s mission and provides students and staff with exceptional motivational experiences, college readiness and practice in 21st Century skills. In short, the ESP program is a win-win.
